Child Psychologist

Child Psychologist. There are times when parents become aware that their child may be struggling to deal with a certain issue(s) and despite every best intention of the parent to assist their child, the problem persists. Alternatively, parents themselves may be struggling with a parenting issue and may find that a point is reached where input from a child psychologist may be considered worthwhile. The list below gives a general overview of the sorts of child related issues that lead to a referral to a child psychologist:

  • Behavioural problems such as defiance, temper tantrums, aggressiveness
  • Emotional problems such as excessive shyness, over-anxious, being withdrawn
  • Bullying issues
  • Academic issues
  • Sleep problems, bed-wetting, fears
  • Health issues such as type 1 diabetes, endocrine disorders, arthritis, epilepsy and others
  • Low self-esteem
  • Hyperactivity
